1. Travel with carry-on only

It goes without saying that if your luggage doesn't leave your sight, you can't lose it. So it you can travel light with a carry-on only, give it a whirl.  This is especially helpful when you are traveling to multiple destinations on one trip.

2. Arrive early

Arriving to the airport as early as possible will help to ensure that your luggage makes it on the plane. This is because it takes time for your luggage to go through security checks and be loaded onto the plane. If you arrive to the airport close to boarding time, your luggage might not make it!

3. Book direct flights

Booking a direct flight can be more expensive, but it will save you in time and frustration. When a direct flight is unavailable,  book a flight with a long enough stopover. If you are running to your next gate, chances are your luggage won't make it on the plane.

4. Check your tag

It never hurts to have a second pair of eyes. Make sure your luggage tag has the correct information printed on it.

5. Buy unique luggage

Everyone and their relatives buy black suitcases. Try a unique color or a design. This makes it easier to find on the conveyor belt. But it also makes it easier to describe if it does get lost.

6. Adorn your luggage

But if you really love your black luggage, try adorning it with something unique: tie a scarf around the handle, use a unique bag tag, collect stickers of all the destinations you have traveled to. This will help to make it easier to identify.

7. Take pictures

Before flying, take pictures of your luggage inside and out. This will make it easier to find if it does get lost. Added bonus, if something is damaged or missing you have proof.

8. Make sure your bag tag info is up-to-date and legible

Buy a luggage tag, fill out your contact information and make sure it is legible. An easy way to do this is to put a business card inside the luggage tag.

Print your address on a large piece of paper and put it on top of your luggage. This will make it easy to find you if  your luggage does get lost. Don't have the time to print something? Put an extra business card in your suitcase.

Always pack a change of clothes in your carry-on. This way if your luggage does get lost, you at least have clean clothes to wear..

Travel insurance is always a good idea especially right now with all of the uncertainties of traveling. Travel insurance usually covers your bags too!

An added bonus of upgrading your seats are the priority luggage tags that they put on your luggage. This will help to assure extra careful handling and hopefully keep your luggage from getting lost while traveling.

GPS tags are a simple way to know where your luggage is at all time. Buy one, pop it into your suitcase and you're good to go!
